Good and Angry by David Powlison: David Powlison quickly gets to the point that everyone, everyone has a serious problem with anger. He defines anger as the emotion that expresses that we are against something and that anger involves our whole being. The middle of the book is about how anger can be good. He calls good anger "the constructive displeasure of mercy". His point is that mercy does not stand idly by while evil is happening. Anger is a gift from God to alleviate injustice and to fight for the oppressed. We just tend to be angry out of selfishness rather than out of redemptive purposes. Powlison leads the reader through thought provoking questions to understand their anger and to turn to God in anger and allow God's purposes to rule. "Angry people always talk to the wrong person. They talk to themselves, rehearsing the failings of others... When you begin to talk to the right person - to your Shepherd, who sees, hears, and is mercifully involved in your life" chaotic, destructive anger can dissolve.
